About

SLA is a global organization comprised of information professionals from
a wide variety of specialties. Its members work in many industries including academia, government, business, and law.   Although it began in 1909 as the Special Libraries Association, it has long since broadened its mission and its membership to include information professionals in many venues.  The Association’s mission is to strengthen and promote its members through education, advocacy and networking initiatives.

SLA provides members with a wealth of networking opportunities such as SLA events and meetings, as well as career information and guidance, online continuing education, and access to professional publications. Student members may join for a significantly smaller fee than other members. For more information, visit SLA’s official website . You may also find SLA on Facebook and on Twitter.
